Music for Fun and Learning
Linda is very interested in the link between child development and musical activities. She has researched the benefits of music in relation to language development and was awarded a first class honours degree in Professional Education Studies. In her Carousel music workshops and as an infant teacher she has explored using music as a vehicle for learning. She has seen the real boost that music can give to young children, particularly with their speech, memory, maths, self-confidence, creative and social skills.

Carousel Music Workshops
Founded in 1983 by Linda Caroe. These sessions offer a group musical experience for parents with their pre-school children and highlight the educational benefits of early music-making. The workshops include a variety of musical activities based around a theme with movement to music, circle dances and percussion instruments. We aim to provide a happy musical experience for everyone and also to help the adults develop confidence to share music at home with their children.

Carousel CDs
As well as being available to parents, we found that our CDs were a valuable musical resource for teachers and early years practitioners. The main feature of the Carousel CDs is the carefully pitched and paced production so that the music is just right for young voices and at the same time is ‘adult friendly’. The lyrics are clear and all the tracks include young children singing with Linda or Mike. Some tracks have been played on schools programmes in Russia to support teaching English as a second language. The cover designs are by the well-known illustrator and children’s author Jan Barger. The music was professionally recorded and produced by Mike Newbon.

Carousel Nursery Rhymes and Children’s Songs
40 tracks featuring well-loved traditional favourites and exciting new songs for young children. For example, the words to ‘Music Band’ are set to a traditional tune and encourage children to explore percussion instruments. A brand new tune to the rhyme ‘5 Little Monkeys’ is based on a well-known playground chant. There are songs for actions, counting, dancing and creative movement.

Carousel Christmas Songs and Carols
A vibrant collection of Christmas music for young children. The first 10 vocal tracks have been arranged in order to tell the Christmas story through music. Children could act and sing along to create their very own Nativity play. The remaining tracks 11 -20 are a mixture of favourite songs and vibrant new Christmas songs. Backing tracks for all the songs and carols have been included on this CD to encourage musical skills and creativity. See the Music Shop for full track listing.
